Not to self: it is unsafe to reveal the fact that you are single while livng abroad. Here's what happens:
"Who are you going to bring with you to the Ples? A nice Czech man?"
"No, I don't have a boyfriend rignt now. I'm bringing my flatmate, shes a girl."
"Oh, you don't have a Czech boyfriend yet? How is that possible?"

"This is my older brother. His name is Martin. He is 21 years old. He does not have a girlfriend....I'll be back in a few minutes."
- One of my students at Ples
"So, why are you in the Czech Repubic? Do you have a Czech boyfriend or something?"
"Nope"
"Oh my god, why?"
